People should wear sunglasses on a daily basis.  Not just on the beach.

Have regular eye exams by an ophthalmologist.  If you are under 40 with good overall eye health, go every two years.  Over 40, go every year.  Check for glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Wear protective eyewear for racquet sports like squash and racketball.

Avoid eye strain.  If you look at a computer screen all day, the solution is not eye exercises; it is to take a break every half hour to 45 minutes, for 30 seconds.  Relax by closing your eyes or focus on an object in the distance.

Use artificial tear drops.  There’s also a prescription called Restasis.  People don’t blinik as much when working on computers, which leads to dryness.

Even if you have had Lasik, you still need to go to the eye doctor every year for a check-up.
